The automatic pallet wrapper with a rotating arm, ROBOPAC HELIX EVO 4, has been successfully launched into operation. Thanks to the use of technological packaging, customers can now save $1.05 per pallet by wrapping the pallets in stretch film with top covering instead of using a stretch hood. In addition to the automatic wrapping with top covering at a speed of 37 pallets per hour, the ROBOPAC HELIX EVO 4 is equipped with the first NIP&TUCK film end tucking device in the CIS, which prevents the film tails from unwinding due to external factors such as rain and wind. For the first time in Belarus, the packaging machine allows wrapping the pallet base without using a pallet lift by installing a separate drive on the pallet wrapper carriage, which helps to grip the pallet base during wrapping.
Before discontinuing the use of stretch hoods, we conducted tests in our demo room in collaboration with the customer. We compared the consumption of stretch hoods (848 grams) and stretch film with top covering (485 grams) for one customer pallet. At the time of testing, the cost of a stretch hood per pallet was $2.713, while the cost of stretch film with top covering was $1.663. The savings for the customer from using stretch film with top covering amounted to $1.05 per pallet.
In addition, we conducted field tests by transporting a pallet of goods wrapped in stretch film with top covering in an open truck. The experiment showed that this method of packaging is more reliable than stretch hoods, as it allows adjusting the packaging recipe according to the customer's needs by adjusting the number of wraps, tension, and pre-stretch.
