Packaging adhesive tape
Packaging adhesive tape (scotch tape) consists of transparent (brown) polypropylene film, resistant to tear, easily stretchable in two directions, one side of which is covered with acrylic or hot-fused glue, or natural rubber based glue.
Depending on the type of the packed product various types of adhesives tapes are used having different dimension-types and thickness:
- the tape 48 or 50 mm wide can be used for packing corrugated boxes in facilities with high suspended materials concentration and at low temperatures, for example in the freezers, etc.;
- packaging tape 75 mm wide is used for packing particularly heavy or fragile boxes;
- industrial tape 50 mm wide and 990 m long is designed for automatic packaging conveyors and shipped on the standard hub 76 mm in diameter.
The most commonly used adhesive tape has thickness of 45, 48 and 50 micron, which determines its adhesive properties.
Packaging adhesive tapes are used for manual and machine packaging; in case of manual packaging a worker operates a manual or semiautomatic dispenser. In case of machine packaging all the operations are performed by a special machine, which considerably accelerates and automates production packaging process.
High adhesive and mechanical strength indices of the offered tapes assure safe packaging of various types.
